Ashley Stokes
about me
I am passionate about teaching, learning, and curriculum development. Seventeen years of educational experience in both public and independent schools has afforded me the opportunity to teach, mentor, and coach faculty on trends in education and best practices.
My academic background along with my experience in the classroom, and in independent school leadership both as an associate head of school and as a division head for preschool and lower school, have all contributed to the perspectives and practices that I bring to my role as an educational consultant.
I hold a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Administration from the University of South Carolina and a Master of Education in Divergent Learning from Columbia College. I recently earned a Certificate in School Management and Leadership through the Harvard Graduate School of Education and Harvard Business School. I served as Associate Head of School (2K-6th) at All Saints’ Episcopal Day School for three years. Prior to this role, I served as the Head of Lower School (2K-4th) at the Spartanburg Day School for five years. My teaching experience includes teaching fifth grade and first grade reading intervention in Greenwood School District Fifty, Lexington School District One and Spartanburg School District Seven.
I have extensive experience in curriculum development with an emphasis in a play-based and Reggio-inspired preschool philosophy. My expertise and focus in elementary and middle school curriculum includes a balance of inquiry-based methods with traditional methods to teaching and learning.
My philosophy of providing meaningful professional development is rooted in the belief that such growth is an ongoing process embedded in the daily work of educators and leaders. I am committed to helping develop, coach, support and refine teaching and learning.
I would welcome an opportunity to learn more about your school and to assist you and your faculty in taking the next steps in doing the important and empowering work of curricular growth.
Warmly,
Ashley
